Stage 1
The first stage involves meeting the client to discuss the project in-depth. The clients wanted to create a large open plan living space at the rear of their house.
We created the design on BIMx with the client and architect to show them ideas and different layouts. We agreed on removing the existing two corner walls, installing 2 steels and extending the living space out into the garden.
RCM then worked with our architect and Maldon District Council regarding building control.
Stage 2
We started by blocking off the old windows and doors of the existing living. We then prepared the grounds and foundations for the new extension, this included moving the drainage pipes out from underneath the new extension. Once the groundworks and foundations were ready, we were able to start building the extension around the rear of the house, we used like for like bricks to tie in the extension.
When the new walls were finished, we were able to fit the two new steel beams and remove the corner walls from the house.
The extension was then fitted with a new flat roof, with a roof lantern and aluminum roof capping. And all walls were then plastered.
Once water tight we were able to screed the floors to create one level floor throughout, this was in preparation for the electric underfloor heating.
